The town's beating historical heart. The Historical Society runs the O'Neill Museum on Los Rios Street, guides small-group walking tours of the district, hosts lectures with local historians, and maintains an archive of photos, maps, and family papers that make San Juan Capistrano's story feel personal. Members receive event invites and behind-the-scenes access to properties not normally open to the public. If you love the Mission but want to know the neighborhood's story beyond it, this is where to start — and volunteering is a wonderful way for new residents to connect quickly with old-time locals.
